Adjustment of the distance between ink roller and cliche

By the activation of the start signal the ink roller is lifted up by the four short cylinders and brought to the front position. The lift of the cylinder should not exceed 2 mms above the cliche. The adjustment is done by eccentric bolts on the base of the cylinders. Note: This adjustment is done in the factory and should not be changed. A change is only required by using a different height of cliches. The correct transfer of ink from the ink roller to the cliche by traveling backwards to the home position is given, if the ink roller touches the cliche only lightly. Contact of more than 0.3 mm (.011") results in an unclean transfer of ink to the letters an voids in the letters will be filled. If this should be the case an adjustment of the two guide rails is necessary. This happens as follows:

- Open Plexiglas doors on front and back side
- Loosen both hexagonal screws at the guide rails, use 10 mm wrench
- Adjust guide rails by turning set screws, use 2,5 mm Allen wrench (see arrows)
- Tighten hexagonal screws
- Move print roller (5) by hand and observe pressure to the letters. If needed, re-adjust.
- Feed paper through printer and make test prints (Press push button 'Test Print')

Caution: The print plates are manufactured according to customer's requirements. Never change the height of the clichés, otherwise the entire printer has to be readjusted! To achieve a perfect image over the entire print area, the desired height between thr top of lower pressure plate and the top of pressure plate must be kept to 10.0 mm + 0.2 mm.

Adjustment of even print

To achieve a constant pressure of the clichés at the whole print plate, the hexagonal screws at the backup plate have to be properly adjusted. Note: This adjustment is done in the factory and should not be changed. Any changes may cause a lack of print quality. If for any reason a different height of cliché is required, we very much recommend that AMACO's technician perform the necessary adjustments.

Adjustment of speed for ink roller

The ink roller travels by means of a pneumatic cylinder with rack and pinion system and two cables moving forwards and backwards. This cylinder is located under the print plate. The speed can be adjusted from the outside by using a screw driver (see following sketch):

1
speed of ink roller forward
2
speed of ink roller backward
3
damper adjustment front position
4
damper adjustment rear position

Attention: Slowing down the print roller too much will offset the synchronized action with the packaging machine.

Adjustment of the pressure between steel roller and rubber roller

In order to achieve an even transfer of ink, means that the ink is squeezed through a steel and a rubber roller first. The pressure between these two rollers is self-adjusted by springs. This adjustment is done in the factory and should not be changed. Any change may cause a deterioration of print quality.

Adjustment of the speed of print plate

The speed of the up- and down movement of the print plate can be adjusted at the two flow control valves on the main cylinder.

Volume of the ink flow

The delivery speed of the diaphragm pump is adjusted by means of an air pressure regulator (PR1). The flushing pulse is generated by the PLC. Note: This adjustment is done in the factory and should not be changed.

Adjustment of the print dwell

The print dwell can be varied at the PLC. Besides the LED indicator is small flap. Under this flap, a little trimmer is located. By turning this trimmer clockwise, the print dwell will increase. (Rem: on the new PLC´s, there are two trimmers, just the upper one is in use) Attention: Increasing the print dwell too much will offset the synchronized action with the packaging machine and could tear off the top web.
